Connection to Community actions focus on strategies the City uses to communicate with residents to ensure they are receiving information in a way that meets their needs and creating awareness of the City's commitment to racial equity.
Shortly after the Race Equity Report was adopted in early 2022, the City publicized the report and added a section to the website designed to tell the story of Eden Prairie's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Since then there has been a concerted effort to communicate the City's progress toward race, equity and inclusion goals.
In August 2022, City leaders hosted a town hall meeting with residents from diverse backgrounds to learn about their experiences living in Eden Prairie. Feedback from this meeting is helping to guide City staff with implementing the Race Equity Report recommendations.
In 2023, the City rolled out an organization-wide Limited English Proficiency policy and language translation and interpretive service. The policy includes criteria for document and in-person translation and interpretation and led to the City's 2023 Quality of Life Survey being available in English, Somali and Spanish for the first time.
