The West Metro Police Cadet program provides tuition assistance, paid learning opportunities and valuable mentorship to individuals interested in becoming a police officer.
How it Works
- Candidates apply for the two-year program through a participating police department
- Applications accepted on a rolling basis as space is available
- Once accepted, cadets receive tuition assistance to complete their law enforcement degrees and become POST-eligible
- Up to $12,000 per year to a qualified institution for two-year degree
- Up to $3,500 per year to a qualified institution for Law Enforcement Training and Skills Program
- During the two-year program, cadets work part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) in a uniformed position, gaining valuable police experience, mentorship and training
- After completion of the program, cadets are eligible for hire as full-time police officers
