Salary

Eden Prairie officers reach the top of the pay scale in five years.

2025 pay scale — $39.24 (Step 1) to $57.17 (Step 5)

2026 pay scale — $40.42 (Step 1) to $58.89 (Step 5)

Lateral officer starting pay is based on years of sworn experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Two or four-year college degree
• Valid Minnesota Peace Officer license or eligible to be licensed in the state of Minnesota

Examinations

• Background Check (includes driver’s license check — must have valid driver’s license and excellent driving record)
• Physical Exam (includes medical exam, physical abilities testing and drug test)
• Psychological Evaluation

The Eden Prairie Police Department conducts approximately 4,000 hours of training every year.

In addition to state-mandated training requirements, Eden Prairie officers participate in more than 100 hours of training each year in crisis intervention and response, de-escalation, defensive tactics, firearms, leadership and management, and more.
