If you need to replace equipment or appliances in your home be sure to find one that is Energy Star-rated. This rating means it is certified to be one of the most energy-saving models of the product available.
After you've done DIY improvements, consider a Home Energy Squad visit. An energy professional assesses your home for energy savings opportunities and the program is available to all Xcel Energy or CenterPoint Energy customers. The Home Energy Squad connects you with utility rebates and other financing options if you decide to move forward with a recommended improvement.
Home Electrification
You can make your home climate-friendly, healthier and more comfortable through electrification, or replacing the use of natural gas equipment and appliances with electrically powered options. Historic federal and state resources are available to help you with this transition. Learn more at Electrify Everything MN.

Renters can also save money using LED lighting. Make sure there are no cold winter drafts from windows or doors. If there are drafts, apply plastic film to windows or ask your landlord to fix weather stripping on your door. Use a smart power strip so electronics do not run when not in use.
