Local communities and law enforcement agencies should implement customized models of community involvement that increase communication, input, and engagement of the public in establishing openness, listening, and transparency between the public and the law enforcement.
EPPD Actions
The Eden Prairie Police Department employs a Somali-speaking officer who serves as a liaison with the Somali community.
The Department works closely with the City’s Human Rights and Diversity Commission to sponsor events such as Kickin’ It with the Cops, aimed at engaging with community youth, and hosts Coffee with the Cops sessions at senior living residences and coffee shops.
The Police Department regularly shares information on social media including incident briefs, crime alerts, statistics and Department news.
