Private Clarence H. Holt

Private Clarence H. HoltPrivate Clarence H. Holt of South St. Paul was drafted into the United States Army in early 1944. While in training, Holt joined the Rangers and saw extensive action during D-Day and the invasion of France. He was wounded twice and convalesced in England before being sent back to the front lines in Belgium and France in late 1944.

Holt was killed in action on Dec. 18, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. He served with the 8th Infantry Division and the 28th Infantry. He was 31 at the time of his death and left behind his wife Agnes.

He was awarded two Purple Heart Medals for injuries sustained during combat.
