Basic Skills teaches the fundamentals of ice skating in order to provide a strong foundation.
Upon completion, skaters can confidently advance to more specialized areas of skating.
Basic 1 — Skaters age 7–13 with no prior skating experience or formal instruction.
Learn to stand and move on the ice. No hockey skates please.
Basic 2 — Skaters age 7–13 and older. Skaters who successfully passed Snowplow Sam 3 or skaters who have successfully passed Basic 1. Advanced forward skating, one foot glides, and edge development.
Basic 3 — For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 2
Stroking and backward skating are taught at this level.
Basic 4 — For skaters who have passed completed Basic 3
Edges and forward crossovers are taught at this level.
Basic 5 — For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 4
Backward crossover and turns are taught at this level.
Basic 6 — For skaters who have successfully passed Basic 5
Turns, beginning spins and spirals are taught at this level.
