Sustainable Eden Prairie
Sustainable Eden Prairie is an ongoing effort focusing on education and implementation of sustainable practices to protect the environment and natural resources our community enjoys.
Building upon the success of the 20-40-15 initiative, the City is leading by example and providing a foundation for residents and businesses to carry out sustainable practices in four areas — energy, landscape, waste and water.
Solar Energy
The City recently installed rooftop solar arrays at three City facilities.

As part of the Sustainable Eden Prairie initiative, the City recently installed rooftop solar arrays at the City Center, Maintenance Facility and Water Treatment Plant. The power generated at these facilities, supplemented by off-site solar energy subscriptions, will soon allow Eden Prairie’s municipal energy usage to be 100% solar-powered – reducing the City’s overall carbon footprint and lowering utility costs.
