Sustainable Eden Prairie logo

Sustainable Eden Prairie is an ongoing effort focusing on education and implementation of sustainable practices to protect the environment and natural resources our community enjoys.

Building upon the success of the 20-40-15 initiative, the City is leading by example and providing a foundation for residents and businesses to carry out sustainable practices in four areas — energy, landscape, waste and water.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, nearly 30 donated fruit trees were planted in two of Eden Prairie's parks.

Prairie View Elementary students planted eight trees in the City's Edible Playground located in Prairie View Park (17255 Peterborg Road), while City Council and Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Commission members, along with representatives of PROP and other community volunteers, planted 20 trees in Pioneer Park (8940 Sutton Drive) near the Senior Center.

Hennepin County donated the trees to the City through its tree planting and reforestation program.

The fruit harvested from the apple, pear, plum and apricot trees will be distributed to local families in need through the City's partnership with PROP.
