If you’re spending these chilly days at home cleaning out forgotten cupboards and closets, the EPPD would like to remind you how to safely dispose of any unwanted medications you may find while purging.

The City has free home medication disposal bags that can be picked up at Eden Prairie City Center (8080 Mitchell Road) Monday – Friday from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Each bag provides for the disposal of up to 45 pills, six ounces of liquid medication or six transdermal patches. The bags contain activated carbon which neutralizes the medication and prevents it from contaminating ground and drinking water. Funding for the bags comes from the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund.

Please note, the EPPD does not accept medication drop-offs at our department. Hennepin County has  drop box locations to safely dispose of large or small quantities of medication.
