Similar to tennis and badminton, pickleball is played with a few varied rules on a shortened court with a net that is slightly lower than a tennis net, using a paddle and a small wiffle ball.

OUTDOOR PICKLEBALL CLINICS
Ages 15 and older
These clinics are a great way to learn the sport of pickleball. Players receive 30 minutes of off-the-court instruction and then one hour of on-the-court training. Registered players are welcome to stay and play afterward. Instruction is provided by Brian Astbury; tennis shoes are required; paddles are available to use during the clinic only. If there is a possibility of inclement weather, the clinic will be moved indoors to the Community Center and players will receive a notification.

All players must register in advance online or at the Community Center.

OUTDOOR PICKLEBALL DRILLS

Ages 15 and older
These drill sessions are a great way for players to work on their skills. Registered players are welcome to stay and play afterward. Tennis shoes and wristbands are required; instruction is provided. If there is a possibility of inclement weather, the clinic will be moved indoors to the Community Center and players will receive a notification. The drill sessions are not for players who are new to the sport. Players must be able to demonstrate the following skills prior to participating in the drill sessions:

  • Soft game in the kitchen with both forehand and backhand (minimum 8 reps)
  • Consistent accurate serve and deep return
  • Understanding and use of the "third-shot drop"

All players must register in advance online or at the Community Center.
