As stated by city ordinance 12-2009, all required fire alarm systems in the City of Eden Prairie must be registered with the Eden Prairie Fire Department. Residential fire alarm systems do not need to be registered.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE FIRE ALARM REGISTRATION ORDINANCE?
The purpose of the ordinance is to protect emergency services from misuse and improve service to alarm users. The ordinance is intended to improve the reliability of fire alarm systems and reduce or eliminate false alarms.
